From the minutes, not yet reviewedCouncil accepts a $13,000 donation to repair the City Hall chimes and make them automatic.
The Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County is giving the money. It will turn the chimes into a fully automated system. Right now they only play manually, and the automatic clock system doesn't work. The chimes went up in 1932 as a World War I memorial paid for by the community.
