August 25, 2026Asheville City Council
From the minutes, not yet reviewedCouncil approves the 2025-26 property tax settlement and orders collection of 2026-27 taxes.
Buncombe County bills and collects City property taxes, including the City's motor vehicle fee. State law says the tax collector must report each year on what was collected the year before, for Council to approve. Council must then order the collector to gather this year's taxes. The City says this keeps the tax money coming in and follows state law.
